Extrazen

Underground alt-pop artist Extrazen takes a bold step forward with his sophomore EP, WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR HANDS. A raw exploration of self-discovery, creative struggle, and personal growth, the EP captures the emotional depth of an artist coming into his own.

Taking full control as both artist and producer, Extrazen’s self-produced project embraces deep bass-driven sounds and innovative sampling, showing off his evolving style. The EP’s title, inspired by Jon Kabat-Zinn’s book Wherever You Go, There You Are, reflects the idea that our hands are a reflection of our inner selves. Thematically, the EP explores passion, family pressure, and overcoming life’s challenges, all while underscoring the symbolic act of “keeping your hands moving” to fight adversity.

Extrazen’s visual identity complements his music with a cohesive, blurred aesthetic across cover art and videos, symbolizing the fluidity and constant movement of time and emotion. His visuals often feature hands—searching, running away, or expressing urgency—mirroring the personal stakes in his songs.

WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR HANDS marks a pivotal moment in Extrazen’s career, with standout performances at London’s NiNE8FEST and Portugal’s NOS Alive Festival alongside global stars like Dua Lipa. His music has earned praise from 1883 Magazine, Live Nation’s Ones to Watch, The Luna Collective, and Stardust Magazine, while receiving placements on key playlists such as Spotify’s New Music Friday and Apple Music’s New Music Daily.

Born in Santo Tirso, Portugal, Extrazen’s musical journey began as a self-taught guitarist. His passion for music, paired with his desire to experiment with different styles, led him to his debut single “With You” in 2019, followed by the intimate “Pinewood St.” and “Cleopatra” in 2021. With his new EP, Extrazen is set to infiltrate the upper echelons of the alt-pop scene—WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR HANDS marks an exciting year for this rising star.
